Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find CPR certification classes near me?
Great news—you’ve already found one! At Goodworks Gives, we make it super simple to get certified, whether you’re in D.C., Maryland, or Virginia. You can also do a quick online search or check with local community centers or hospitals, but why not start with the team that’s already helping the DMV learn life-saving skills with heart?
Wait—is CPR the same as BLS?
Close, but not quite! CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is one part of BLS (Basic Life Support). Think of BLS as CPR’s big sibling—it includes CPR, but also adds skills like using an AED and helping someone who’s choking. If you’re in healthcare, you’ll probably need BLS. If you’re just starting out or looking to feel more prepared, CPR might be perfect.
How much does training cost?
At Goodworks Gives, we believe saving lives shouldn’t break the bank.
CPR, BLS, and CPR + First Aid classes start at just $60.
And all of our in-person classes come with official American Heart Association (AHA) certifications and provider cards, so you’re fully covered and ready to roll.
Who needs CPR certification, anyway?
Honestly? Everyone. But especially:
- Nurses, EMTs, and healthcare heroes
- Teachers, coaches, and school staff
- Parents, babysitters, and everyday community champs
Whether it’s for work or just to feel more prepared, CPR certification is a skill that turns you into someone’s real-life superhero.
How often do I need to renew my CPR card?
Every two years—it’s kind of like a driver’s license for saving lives. We’ll help you stay current, confident, and compliant (without the last-minute scramble).
Can I get certified online?
Yes! We offer a convenient remote option through an approved certifying body (perfect for folks who need flexibility). That said, if you’re required to have an AHA certification, you will need to enroll in in-person training—and we’ve got that covered too, right here in the DMV. Our online certifications come from EnjoyCPR. You can view the curriculums here.
When should I actually use CPR?
If someone collapses, isn’t waking up, and isn’t breathing normally—don’t wait. Start CPR right away and call for help. Those first few minutes are everything, and you can be the reason someone gets a second chance.

of improved awareness
Less than half of employees can locate an AED in their workplace. Even worse, around 70 percent lack adequate training to administer CPR to a coworker. Our group AHA BLS and CPR training aims to bridge that gap.
